Complete Incompleteness
Recently when creating models I have been leaving the traces of my process. It just seems right for them to be in an incomplete state. Similar to the urban environment it is never resolved but maps peoples dreams and imaginations yet to come. I have been looking at artists who reveal their process in their artwork and their reasons behind it. Contemperary artist Francis Alys considers the process as much of an artwork as the final product. He believes that the creative process before the work is the most lively moment of the art piece.

Naked
Naked City Guide online is an alternative guide to the Gold Coast which showcases the unique culture of the city with a rich list of things to do and see. Naked has been built on the experiences of the locals who live and work on the Coast and tell more about the city then your common commercial tourist brochure. Similar to my work it is based on personal memories of home so I am very excited to be part of the wonderful guide. New Work
I have recently received an Emerging New Work Grant from Australian council of the arts in which I will extend my practice into video work. The medium of the video is in attempt to create an uncanny narrative that is like a hazy memory of a dream. Similar to our transient spatial experiences, in which it becomes hard to define between reality and fiction. I have been looking at other artists who also employ video into their practice to create unconventional narratives.

Dating
After my dates in Sydney earlier this year, I hit it off with one in particular, Artereal Gallery. We had a second date and it is now official that we are in a relationship. I am very pleased to be represented by Artereal Gallery, a beautiful space with amazing artists. To view my artist page follow the link below.

Speed dating
Art Month Sydney is hosting a speed dating event where 30 artists have 3 minutes to pitch there practice to a bunch of Sydney's Gallerists. I went down last week for a work shop to prepare myself for this crazy event. My next date is in March, I have a little crush on a few gallery's that are attending, I hope I get lucky.....
This is a write up about the Sydney Art Month in Vogue living which was discovered by Madam Chairperson. The top picture is the speed dating event from 2010. There are a range of different events happening for Art month you can check out the website for more information http://www.artmonthsydney.com/

Places from nowhere
These following works are from the series Places from nowhere, which I produced for my Honours Research Project. Since the urban environment of the Gold Coast changes so rapidly I created these works purely from memory, as the only reference point of permanency.

There is no start or end only a middle
There are so many places to start with this blog past, present and future. But after a little think I have decided to start somewhere in the past by showing you works I created throughout University.
Nest was my first work in which I used the technique of model making and photography. It was based on an old hazy photograph of my first home 90 Cypress Terrace Palm Beach. Of course it did not and does not actually look exactly like this but it is like a warped memory of those hauntingly strange childhood places.

I created these works for my graduating exhibition Mediamorphosis in 2009, which was held at the Gold Coast City Art Gallery. The gallery purchased my work for their collection and I was over the moon as my work relates to the culture of the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast City Art Gallery has been a great support since 2009, they have a beautiful collection and I am very proud to be a part of it. In fact there are some very exciting shows coming up this year so, don’t miss out and check it out http://www.theartscentregc.com.au/pages/art-gallery-current-exhibitions.php
A road not yet taken
Usually at the start of a New Year I have a very good idea of what the year will hold. I would know my 12 month university routine which consisted of a 3 month marathon pumping out assignments and projects with a 1 month break which is then followed by another 3 month marathon. And I must say I got pretty professional at being a student by the end. But this year is different I am fresh out of University graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Media with Honours and I am not sure what possibilities will pop up. Don’t get me wrong I love University but now that I am out of art school I have the freedom to take up opportunities that I usually would not be able to commit to. After a long awaited holiday I am back in action and kicking off 2011 with a blog which means my new journey starts here.
